TRAINING PHILOSOPHY

The primary foundation is martial arts. With that, it can carry over to other sporting activities and health-related benefits. The class is part martial arts training and then lion practice.

What is Hung Gar Martial Arts?

Hung Gar Kung Fu is a traditional Chinese martial art that originated in the 17th century in southern China. It's a "soft style" art that uses tiger and crane movements, and is known for its strong stances and intense training. The goal of Hung Gar is to develop coordination and movement efficiency through a combination of internal and external methods, including long and short hand techniques, kicks, and circular movements.

Hung Gar is characterized by:

  • Strong stances: Especially the horse stance, or "si ping ma" (四平馬)

  • Strong hand techniques: Such as the bridge hand

  • Low stances
